How it Started
Nico’s Creamery was born out of the love for top Ice-cream and our love for the best local Devon ingredients we can get our hands on. We wanted to create something totally unique to North Devon and steer away from the mainstream ultra processed methods many producers adopt and create an Ice-cream we can truly be proud of. We enlist the help of many local farmers, bakers, bee keepers, and artisans to help create our product. Expensive and time consuming? Yes. Worth it? Most definitely!
Ultra Small Batches
We create each flavour from scratch with the help of our close knit community of local artisans & producers. Each flavour is created in batches no bigger then 20 Litres using a machine called a Batch freezer. Other ice-cream companies make their product using a continuous freezer method where they can make 100’s of litres an hour. However we like to keep things on a smaller scale.
An International Affair
Our equipment was sourced from all over the world and we had great fun in finding it! We travelled from the East to the West Coast in America, Florence to Naples in Italy as well as various other places in the Europe and the UK all in search for the right equipment best suitable for us. We also made sure we tasted and visited as many fellow producers as possible and the results were inspiring!
Why We Do It
Creating something that people truly enjoy makes us feel great. Whether it’s someone’s first or someone experiencing an enormous amount of nostalgia with a certain flavour, we love to create these moments through the power of Ice-Cream. Doing this all with the help of a community of local food producers & artisans? Magic!
